The panel discussion at this year's World Economic Forum Global meeting in Davos on the future of the digital economy brought together Eric Schmidt of Google and Satya Nadella of Microsoft amongst others.

Within the talk, there are a number of announcements that will have a profound effect on the African economy and on African lives.
Perhaps most interesting in the medium term is Satya Nadella's announcement (minute 36:53) that the company through its partnership with a local provider (Spectra Wireless) has got a licence from the Ghanaian government to bring broadband to Ghana's rural areas using TV White Space technology. The 'final mile' may then be able to connected to the internet affordably at speeds of 16 MB p/s. African digital inclusiveness may soon be on its way.
